Biography

Laure Baert Brought-up in a family of music-lovers, Laure started her musical career with piano lessons at the age of 5.
Parallel to her university studies in arts and musicology, she pursued her musical training at the Lille and Nancy Conservatoires where she obtained first prizes in piano, singing, music theory, chamber music as well as being awarded unanimously the prize for lyrical perfection in Christiane Stutzmann’s class.

In 2003, she won the « Opera Golden Voice » award in the National Golden Voices Contest, presided by Laurence Dale and was outstanding in the Queen Elizabeth International Contest in 2004.

On stage, she has sung in Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Didon and Aeneas, Desmarets’ Venus and Adonis (dir: C. Rousset), Rihm’s Jakob Lenz and La Vie Parisienne at the Lorraine National Opera, Elisir d'Amore on tour in France (Rennes, Reims, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Nancy and Caen), Un Ballo in Maschera (Oscar) and La Clemenza di Tito (Servilia) at the Metz Opera, Carmen (Frasquita), Il Mondo della Luna (Clarice), La Vie Parisienne (Pauline) and Manon (Poussette) at the Nice Opera, Die Zauberflöte (Papagena / dir: H.Niquet) and Marionnette from Wolf-Ferrari’s La Vedova Scaltra at the Montpellier Opera, La Vie Parisienne (Gabrielle) and Manon at the Massy Opera, Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the XXth Eure et Loir Journées Lyriques and at the Lacoste Festival, in the role of Serpina from Pergolese’s La Serva Padrona and the title role of Donizetti’s Rita at the XXth Eure et Loir Journées Lyriques.

She is equally fond of Oratorio and sings the soprano in Mozart’s Mass in C, Exultate Jubilate; Bach’s Magnificat, Schütz, Mendelssohn; Bach’s Saint John Passion, Cantata 51; Pergolese’s Stabat Mater; Fauré’s Requiem; Carmina Burana; Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze; Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine...

Her passion for Chamber Music has led her to perform with pianists Claire Désert, Christian Ivaldi and David Zobel, thus developing original musical programmes such as Les Muses Créatrices, a recital dedicated to female composers, created at the Montpellier National Opera in November 2008.

Recently, she has sung a concert at the Salle Gaveau in Folies Offenbach with the Pasdeloup Orchestra, the Haydn’s Nelson Mass with the Orchestra of the Garde Républicaine at the Saint Louis des Invalides church, Le Pâtre sur le Rocher at the Petit Palais, invited by Arielle Butaux in the context of her France Musique radio programme « D'une rive à l'autre ».

Among her projects she has been invited by Eve Ruggieri to perform the role of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Serva Padrona (Serpina) and Rita at the Antibes festival (July 10), Pergolese’s Stabat Mater with the Orchestra of the Garde Républicaine at the Mont Saint Michel (Sept 10), Thais at the Toulon Opera (Oct.10), Charpentier concert at the Metz Sacred Music Festival (Oct.10), Mozart’s Requiem, L'Homme de la Mancha at the Toulouse Capitole (Dec.10)...

Her recordings include J. Cras’ Polyphème (Label Timpani) and Desmarets’ Vénus and Adonis conducted by C. Rousset (Label Ambroisie).
